Paul Martin, some good news and some bad news.

First the good news: Former PM Paul Martin has been found alive and well in Halifax after being almost completely absent from the House of Commons for the last 2 1/2 years.

And now the bad news: Unfortunately it appears that Mr.Martin thinks he is still fighting the January 2006 federal election.

"In an impassioned speech to the Halifax West federal Liberal association on Sunday, Martin vowed that a Grit government would keep its promises.
He accused the Conservatives of failing to deliver on a national child-care plan, the Kelowna accord that dealt with native education, employment and anti-poverty initiatives and the Kyoto accord that called for a reduction in greenhouse gases."

That's the first time in many many months, a Liberal has uttered the word K y o t o.

''Ignatieff, according to a copy of his eight-page proposal provided to The Sun, will throw up the white flag on Canada's commitment under the Kyoto Accord, to reduce emissions to six per cent below 1990 levels, by the year 2012.

"Canada cannot meet the Kyoto target . . . without spending billions of dollars buying emissions credits from other countries," declares the Ignatieff plan.''

Keeping promises? Paul Martin Jr.?

This from the man who promised to abolish the GST 18 years ago?

Um, the Conservatives haven't delivered on those issues because they weren't their promises.

I wish he would go back to his golf course in the Eastern Townships on his farm land.
