Scott Reid makes up stuff on CBC's Power and Politics

Today on CBC's Power and Politics, Scott Reid, former Paul Martin adviser famous for his beer and popcorn comment which sunk his boss in the 2006 election and who is already quite familiar with libel suits, made the following statement:

"He (Kory Teneycke) along with that, sort of, you know, paid professional brigand of ah, of ah bloggers that work for the Conservative Party; those guys can mobilize a grassroots movement in the snap of a fingers......"

Watch the video. Approx 4:20

Some people never learn.

Mr .Reid, do you, or the CBC for that matter, have any proof at all of your allegation that the conservative party has a roving criminal band of bloggers in its employ?

Or didn't you learn your lesson the last time you made s#1t up and Warren Kinsella sued your lying ass?

I wonder what the CBC has to say.

More to come......?

Watch it for yourself here. The segment starts @ approx the 1:51:30 mark.

Update: Senator Doug Finley responds in the comments

"I can assure all readers that the Conservative Party of Canada has not paid one thin dime to any blogger or activist. The strength of this party largely lies with the many volunteer bloggers and activists in this country."

More of Scott Reid's musings can be found here ( I forgot about this one)

You mean this whole time I could have been paid by the conservative party? I haven't seen any money yet, and I'm dissapointed.

Wrong party. It is the other guys who hand out brown bags of cash.

He is accusing the wrong people, it was Kady, on the same show a few weeks ago that said it was possible to organize a flash mob in minutes via facebook, twitter and ipod. She has been proven right with the protests at universities. Also, it was a staffer of ndp mp Pat Martin that was center stage at that protest. h/t SDA. Did he know about her intentions. Will he be asked to resign. If he says he was ignorant of it, will Iggy call him a liar.

This is hilarious. If anything I pay the Tories. I have been a member of the leaders circle for many years. Should we sue this idiot?

lol, good stuff Mary!

You have to forgive the Liberals, they think all Con bloggers must be getting paid as the reason they are so dedicated, and have such well researched fantastic blogs!!!!

Liberals don't understand 'grassroots', because they didn't grow a movement, they just borrowed Dippers.

Liberals don't understand either, that grassroots means supporters donate time and money.

BC Blue is also on the Martin staffer story, and also has letters written in support of liberals by staffers and party insiders.
When will the opposition learn that with the net and blogs someone will call them out no matter what they come up with.
Pretending to be a student when you are being paid by the ndp is a lot worse than writing a letter. But then, most of the prorogation protests were organized by ndp organizations. I think the P in ndp stands for Protest.

Is Reid kidding? I can verify that some Conservative MP's actually shun our blogs because we might be used to smear their reputations if we say anything against the Conservative party line!

Ah, Scott Reid, the gift that just keeps on giving. the guy is truly a tool.

Now, as a simple commenter does that entitle me to collect 2 cents?

Hi
I'm Doug Finley - National Campaign Director of the Conservative Party - and until recently, the Party's Director of Political Operations.
I have never posted to a blog before - primarily because my function was, and is, to get on with trying to deliver a winning Conservative coalition. Other people may talk - my job was (is) simply to execute. We have many elected and appointed (Senate) people who are better equipped to represent the party publicly.
However, I am compelled to respond via this blog to what appear to be outlandish statements by Scott Reid of the Liberal Party.
I can assure all readers that the Conservative Party of Canada has not paid one thin dime to any blogger or activist. The strength of this party largely lies with the many volunteer bloggers and activists in this country.
In my view, the unpaid (I was about to say amateur but that gives the wrong connotation) Conservative Bloggers have played a major role in winning two elections and consistently furthering the cause of the Conservative Party in the intervening months.
There is no way that I can think of to properly honour and recognise the massively significant difference that Conservative bloggers make to the cause.
Do not be distracted by Scott Reid's deliberately uninformed comments. Your real strength lies in the fact that you do what you do so very, very well because you want to.

Wow... Senator Doug Finley, great comment.
I am quoting to anyone and everyone who gives me a minute what you said, something that went like this:

"Freedom of speech is a most important freedom. If we had all our other rights taken away we could still win them back with freedom of speech."

Needless to say, I am a fan.

Ardvark said...

Senator Finley, thank you for your comments and taking the time to set the record straight on Scott Reid's outlandish statement.

Mr. Reid is welcome to respond and of course the CBC as well, but I sent the CBC an email earlier today so I expect that that is how they will correspond.

Thank you for kind words.
I believe the Senate - especially now - can make a great contribution to Canadian politics by raising - and debating - issues such as Freedom of Speech. This is something that is often difficult to do in the House of Commons as they generally have to focus on debating bills.
I believe my Conservative colleagues in the Senate feel the same way I do.
A couple of days ago I spoke with a journalist who occasionally covers Senate proceedings and he told me that he has never seen such energy and intent in the Seante as he sees now - not in over twenty years.
My Conservative Senate colleagues and I will bring forward for debate (and, in many cases, Senate and Private Member bills to the Senate and House of Commons) many issues that have long languished - like Freedom of Speech.
We will work for Senate reform - but all of us are determined that, while we are there, we will change the way that the Senate is perceived.
Again, thanks for your kind comments - stay tuned.
Doug Finley

Trust a lackey, running dog, lickspittle, toady of the Librano Crew not to be able to comprehend the simple fact that Conservative bloggers, do what they do, and do it well, not for financial gain, but because they care. Genuinely care. Not only do they care, they contribute generous financial support.

Scott and his pals always see things much the same way lab rats see their own cramped world: all they have to do is find, then repeatedly hit the correct "triggers" in the required sequences - earning for themselves, a tasty pellet [or a brown envelope] which miraculously appears.

Small wonder then, that the fast-fading Librano limpskulls are the dudes of the political party who fashion themselves as "The Rat Pack." Not creative enough to come up with their own moniker, they have to plagiarize, and carry out copyright infringements against the estates of a remarkable band of superlative U.S.A. "Big Name" entertainers, now unfortunately, long deceased. Deceased, yes - yet, still funny, still entertaining.

Most decidedly not entertaining tho tragically funny, [in a clown-car full of 70 large-nosed, big-footed buffons]?: The current crop of angry, foam-at-the-mouth Librano copy-cat pseudo "Rat Pack" pretenders. By a country mile.

Excellent Ardvark, you hit the big times! Best I have done is Liberal Paul Szabo.

Maybe Conservative bloggers should hit while the iron is hot and get the Conservative party to get us all together with the MP's and Senators, so we can explain to them that we are not a threat. That would make the Liberal thinkers conference look like child's play in the internet world.

But please not in Ottawa, how about Banff? Send the Blogging Tories on a retreat to Banff so we can explain how much power we have to influence the Conservative position. That would be a huge blast of publicity for the Conservative party! Oh, and fun too!

Scott Reid, as usual, has his ass where his head should be. Conservative bloggers (that's small "c"), like most of us who respond to those blogs don't have to get paid. We believe in conservative values and are willing to espouse them without recompense. Perhaps Mr. Reid is just transferring.
Point of fact: there ain't enough money in the Liberal Party to get me to say good things about them. I can be bought very cheaply, but not by the lefties.

I am jealous, a Senator has never posted a comment on my blog (at least not under their own name). Though, in the last few months I have had rouhly 1000 hits from the ISP Canadian House of Commons, and I have been Tweeted by Tony Clement and James Moore.

I enjoy your blog Ardvark.

YES!!!

And open it up to those of us who have been commenting on blogs since the beginning...lol!

Of course we'd pay our own way. ;)

But seriously, I think it's healthy to be arm's length from the party. Some of us are party members but we still feel free to criticize when it's warranted.

It's about free speech and helping the party stay focused.

Joanne (True Blue) said...

BTW, the fact that Scott Reid said this makes me wonder if it happens on Liblogs?

Am I the only one who noticed it was April 1, 2010 yesterday?

Is this a joke?

If so, excellent!

Conservative bloggers can take this as a compliment from Reid -- the left feels the heat.

I'm glad he opened the door to cutting off the self-described journalists employed by the CBC to spout their ideological views.

Ha! Its unfathomable to this doosh that anyone would blog this way with out a pile of money.

Where do they find these people? The CBC actually pays for this crap and that is the ultimate irony.

robins111 said...

You know, this is funny in a rather pathetic way.

In a sense Scooter, is just sniveling that the Conservative bloggers do a better job at getting the info out and commenting on it.

Someone said "Freedom of speech is a most important freedom. If we had all our other rights taken away we could still win them back with freedom of speech." Not really. We could, though, win back all our other rights including freedom of speech if we had the right to keep and bear arms. It is the right to defend our selves and our property that guarantees other freedoms.

Actually, since the CBC is a $ 1 Billion per year tax leech, we all pay for that crap.

Scott Popcorn's problem is that he, like a lot of other leftist clowns cannot believe that there are a ton of people who just don't like him and his polticial pals.

Unlike the talking-point zombies that like to break windows and deny conservatives from even speaking in public, there are millions of conservatives who are now getting active and opposing these skunks and their Socialist, economy, destroying, culture-perverting bastards and bastardettes.

When they do it it's politics, when we do it, it's a rebellion of retards.

I like to explain to the liberal bloggers that I'm not well informed because I'm a conservative, I'm a conservative because I'm well informed.

The left have a real hard time with this. First they cannot understand how people could challenge their ideas or those that 'know better', and they are so used to being 'organized' and driven to events in union buses that they cannot recognize real grassroots when they see it.

Sorry for my lack of responses but since the party pays so poorly I have to work at a real job to pay the bills. =)

Your last comment, "since the party pays so poorly I have to work at a real job to pay the bills", was hilarious, Ardvark.
I once commented on sda that I first began searching for and following conservative blogs after becoming frustrated over what I perceived to be left-slanting news reports from the mainstream media, a term that was unknown to me at the time.
It was, however, a msm news story which referenced conservative bloggers that instigated my search. Since I was and still am computer illiterate it was no small task for me until I found Blogging Tories.
All of this is simply to say that instead of dollars and cents all I can offer is my thanks for being there.

Seems like Scotty Reid is jealous.

After all, some of his own party's cadre of bloggers can't even answer a question about whether or not government funds should support a speech by individuals wo promise to celebrate nuclear genocide.

It's tough all over for Mr Reid.
