Higher TV numbers for the LPC convention.

Today is Day 4 of Ignatieff week in Canada and as I am sure that you are already aware that the entire country is abuzz with talk around the water cooler at work, and the kitchen table at home, about the Liberal convention and Ignatieff.

Day 4 is just no ordinary day during Ignatieff week; it is the day that the MSM have been waiting for for months now as they roll out their big guns for their convention coverage.

Starting today Canadians will get the privilege to watch live as the Liberal Party of Canada spend taxpayer dollars on a lavish leadership convention; a convention where the leader and the party president have both already been chosen by the back room party elite so there is now no need for that pesky democratic vote thing to get in the way of the celebration. During the convention Canadians will also get the opportunity listen to Liberals speaking to half empty rooms not about real policy but about the need to contribute more money to the LPC, while the new Liberal leader who did not contribute ANY money to his own party last year awaits his coronation.

A great day indeed; it almost makes me wish that I was CBC executive so I could sit back and watch the ratings soar as nothing makes for better TV than live coverage of the waste of taxpayers dollars on a needless convention during a recession to audience growing daily with the ranks of the recent unemployed.

I just tried to watch power play. Richardson was trying to interview Paul Zed .I lasted about 3 minutes. I don't think I'd ever make a reporter . If somebody tried feeding me a bunch of crap like that on national television there'd be a serious ass-kicking live on national television.

LOL good one AA.

Poor Iffy,
CBC will have to fight for LPC convention about nothing to headline over
swine flu, BC Election, Oylympics

Maybe At Issue tonight will be all Iffy, with swooning from Herbert, Coyne and Gregg...

Might be a little tough going for the Liberals as the Vancouver Canucks are the only Canadian team left in the hunt for Stanley, and they play tonight don't they?

Maybe Iggy will show up at the game, that would be too funny. Iggy a hockey fan....oh stop, I'm killing myself laughing! HA!

Burning question, does Iffy cut up his hot dogs and eat them with a fork too? If he was a fruit what fruit would he be?

Sorry Ardvark, long work day.

How can you just sit back and let this happen?

Which pop star will Iggy trot out to introduce him? ( remember Bono introducing Paulie Martin).

Got to get the cool factor in there...let's see. Michael Jackson would be perfect in this situation. or the disgraced Bare Naked Lady guy (wait, I seem to remember he outed himself as a Dipper a few years back). What to do, what to do?

He said this is a Conservative recession and a Conservative deficit.

Never mind that the opposition was pushing for all this stimulus money, and the Liberals VOTED FOR IT!

Even Tom Clark had to call him out afterwards for saying that the recession started in Canada.

Micheal Jackson would be a good choice. He already has his own mask.

Come on people. Iggy fever is in the air and it's catchy!

Yeah, and he would also probably like to get his gloved hand on some Liberal logo thongs, doncha know...

Seriously, why don't they just play a few episodes of Seinfeld instead and call it a day...

I was actually embarassed for Richardson ,Joanne, and I'm not a fan of ctv by any means. He was two miles out of his depth and Zed used him like (please pardon the expression ) a back alley prostitute. After watching Clarke going after Peter Kent yesterday though I can't help but wonder what Ignatief will get away with when Clark interviews him . Another tongue bath I imagine.

Iggy commented on the Seinfeld connection today by saying something like: 'this is not a convention about nothing. We have work to do rebuilding the greatest political party in the history of the world.'

A bit over the top and arrogant if you ask me, but that seems to be what the Libs like in their leaders.

Hunter, it is beneath his Iggyness to eat something as pedestrian as a hotdog.

I have 3 days worth of Power Play to catch up on, but I just do not where to find the time with that riveting convention coverage going on.

You don't explain how it's taxpayers money the LPC is spending! Their income is from the votes they got in the election and from donations. How is that any different from the Conservatives and their conventions?

Ardvark said...

It is taxpayer money as you say, and yes the conservatives get it as well but the conservatives wanted to do away with that if you remember back to last year when the conservatives tried to do that the Liberals were so worried about losing the money that the made the coalition pact with the NDP and Bloc to stop it.

Don't worry though. It will be back during the next election campaign and then Iggy can explain to all of us why the Liberals need that money more than Canadians do.

Thank goodness there are only a few 'tough' questions around here for you to answer, hey Ardvark?
Good job and hysterical post.
I 'heart' convention week!

If only you would have posted this earlier while there was still time to get bumper stickers printed up. We could have made a killing!
