Local: Edm-Strathcona News.

For those of you that live in Edmonton-Strathcona and have a current membership there is going to be a nomination candidates forum this Thursday May 28th at Austin O'Brien School 6110-95 Ave at 7 p.m.

The person you choose is the one that gets to face off against incumbent Linda Duncan of the NDP in the next election. So come out, listen to, and talk with the candidates, become informed and choose wisely.

Duncan will win again. This nomination is a waste of time. Even Jaffer isn't bothering with it.

Harper/Flaherty are not up to the challenge of fiscal manageent. These past 6 months have been a disaster. And these clowns don't know what is going on.

I agree with Anon #1.

I am a proud supporter of Linda Duncan. The only way the CPC will retake this riding is if the LPC candidate is good enough to split the vote.

I would not underestimate how many people here are willing to vote strategically to keep your guy out.

I think the only thing being underestimated is the damage Duncan did to her chances with her promotion of the coalition.

Gayle said...

Yeah - you go with that.

Good luck!

500 votes Gayle. Duncan's office got more calls than that regarding the coalition on the first day the story broke.

So yes I will go with that.

Gayle said...

Do you think all those calls were a) against the coalition, and b) from her constituents?

Please please go with that.

Ardvark said...

If your thinking on the coalition is any indication of how Duncan will campaign, it is going to be much easier than I thought to turn the riding over to it's natural governing party.

No point on going over and over this one Gayle, but come the day after the election we shall see who was right and who was wrong.

thanks for the notice and what a contrast between candidates..."I was even born then" to a lifetime of experience in Linda Blade. My vote is Linda Blade will convert the orange box into BLUE. We need a bright, hard working and POSITIVE conservative to inspire the ranks.

Gayle said...

You need a new party leader to change all those orange votes back to red which would allow your candidate to come up the middle.

Or maybe Ignatieff will do that for you. Either way, it will not be about your candidate.

I heard Linda Blade at the Forum last night and she has more than just experience - she has energy galore!

Anonymous said...

oh gayle...have you talked to any people lately...we are converting those orange votes to blue in the hundreds with our membership drive right now...and there are Linda "voters" all over the riding...

Gayle said...

Sure you are anon.

Because there is a fine line between conservative and NDP.

Either that, or you are totally lying. Guess which one I believe.

But you keep trying to make yourself feel better...

I know of several people who have put aside their party colours in favour of supporting Linda Blade. Sometimes, it's not about the party, it's about the person and what they bring to the table. Linda has the ability to connect with every day people on so many levels. When she commits to something, you know she is truly committed. Personally, I like the idea of an MP who is feisty, intelligent, and down-to-earth.

Ardvark, how did you feel that the Town Hall went?

I thought one was to vote to get their person in, not to keep someone out. Guess if the reason that NDP person won, was hate for another, she doesn't have a great bunch of supporters, just haters.
Great slogan, if you hate-vote NDP.

Sorry for the late reply Anon. I will be putting something up on the candidates and the debate at a later date.
