The Liberals send out the lawyers

The Liberals send out the lawyers to try to stop ads that they claim they are not worried about.

C-SPAN's corporate vice president and general counsel, Bruce Collins, said Canada’s Liberals called to alert him to the use of copyrighted footage of leader Michael Ignatieff in a Conservative attack ad.

Collins says he was contacted by a lawyer who said he was representing the Liberals after the ad came out.

“He wanted to know if we were aware if our video was being used in this way,” Collins said. “If our rights were being violated, he wanted us to enforce them.

Those Liberals, always worrying about the rights of others. Err maybe not.

To make it legal all the Conservative's have to do is put "The" at the beginning of the ads. You know, like:

The Libs just keep digging that hole deeper.

So they contacted C-SPAN regarding copyright, and what do they get... C-SPAN replies that they don't think there's any violation to worry about at all.

They probably thought they could get the CPC in some sort of trouble in the media over copyright violation, but instead get the media running another story about the ad, giving more free airtime to the CPC message, and reinforce the point that the adds are in fact just fine.

Funny how getting the lawyers involved always seems to cause more trouble!

Spending money on lawyers is just a small part of the Ignatieff led Liberal Party stimulus package.

That's hilarious!!
Because they are truth ads,
Iffy can't take his case to court,
and nobody else will do it for him.
I guess he'll have to depend on his Senators to ban them!

p.s. 2 Senate seats vacant in June.

I love this, the entire Liberal Party is ending up wearing Dion then Iggy, who's next?

The lawyer was probably Katsella, that way the Liberals could save some money.

They better start checking Youtube for anymore comments that can be used, because I think the next set of ads are ready to go come an election call. That should keep lots of lawyers busy.

If you mess with me, I'll mess with you until my lawyers are done.

Harper sued Dion. The Liberals are taking a page from the chess-player.

Dion sued Duceppe first!!

See, proof positive that Mr. Kinsella's losing whatever it is he had once.

When people start laughing at your know you're in trouble.

It is hard to fight the truth and even though they dare not admit it, it is the reason why the Liberals are going full bore against the ads and why they are working.

Anon, and why did Stephen Harper sue Dion and the LPC? Would you care to provide some details of the Liberals libel in that case? Inquiring minds want to know.
