How many potential candidates are allowing their names to stand.

As far as I am aware it is the 3 that I have listed in the post, Linda Blade, Ryan Hastman, and Cathay Wagantall. I believe that Wednesday is the day that all the candidates must have their nomination paperwork in to be included on the ballot.

Ardvark, you share a riding with the infamous Gayle?? lucky you!

Ardvark said...

No,Soccermom, I am in Edmonton-Millwoods-Beaumont sort of south east of Edm-Strathcona.

Gayle's loss I guess ;)

I do plan on doing some work there in any upcoming election so who knows, I could be knocking on Gayle's door at some point.

Why won't Harper let Rahim run?

Why is Wagantall, a millwoods person, parachuting into strathcona?

Anon, Rahim chose not to run. There was an erroneous press report that claimed otherwise but Rahim has already cleared up any misconceptions.

You really don't have a clue what parachuted into riding means do you. Let me give you a couple of examples: Ignatieff was parachuted into Etoboke-Lakeshore. Meaning Paul Martin put him in there against the wishes of the local members and refused to sign any other nomination paper but Iggy's. The same thing applied to Ruby Dhalla as she too was parachuted into her riding by Martin.

If you would care to reword that deleted comment without the intentional misspelling of the name, which you did for what reason I can only guess, I would be happy to discuss your spin, err I mean points.

I guess we know who you are supporting. Why do you support a person who does not live in the riding?

Rahim wanted to run but the PM called the nomination when he was unavailable. Is there any doubt Rahim will be sileneced and rewarded by Harper for changing his tune and playing along? I will be back with a "I told you so" when Rahim gets a government appointment (Which he will need because he has no other skills. His strength is his connection to the Conservative party).

Does Rahim still live in the riding, or did he move to to Ontario to live with his wife. Perhaps he will surface as a candidate in Ontario.

Anon, all this week I have seen Liberals jumping through hoops trying to convince themselves and others that living outside of Canada for 34 years is not a detriment to becoming PM, yet living JUST outside a riding is reason to disqualify someone from a riding nomination?

Give me a break.

Just a quick note.

The deadline to file nomination papers is this upcoming Friday so I would expect that sometime during the week of the 25th it all will be official.

I am not aware of or expecting any late entries into the race but one never knows in politics.
