Wildrose Alliance: The official opposition in Alberta?

I am not sure how accurate this is but if it is true............

McLoughlin is reporting as many as 10 Tory MLAs could join the Wildrose Alliance Party if Danielle Smith takes the reins. That's a big shake-up that could place the Wildrose Alliance as the new Official Opposition. McLoughlin attributes his information to unnamed credible sources.

This may spur lefties to join the party and support Mark. They do have a history of this sort of thing. But unlike when they were joining the PCs to stop Ted Morton from winning, this time it's in their best interests for Mark to win. If Mark wins there won't be a defection of PCs to the WRA and thus the WRA won't become the official opposition. Plus, under Mark, the WRA is not really electable.

It helps the Libs and Dippers survive if Mark wins.

Reid, have the membership sales been cut off yet?

Nope. The vote is Oct. 17 and I believe the last day for sales is Oct. 2

What you are saying is possible; I know a very proud Liberal who joined the PC's just to vote for Dinning so Morton would not win.

If this happens and the WRA does form the opposition that would make for some pretty interesting question periods and having Swann have to move out of his office would be an added bonus.
