Khadafi avoids facing the Cannon

Reports are coming in saying that Libyan Leader Muammar Khadafi has cancelled a stop over in Newfoundland planned for later this week.

There is speculation that the trip was cancelled so Khadafi would not have to face Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon who was expected to express Canada's "strong disapproval" over the hero's welcome organized by Libya for Abdel Basset al-Megrahi, the only person convicted in the 1988 bombing of a Pan Am jumbo jet over Lockerbie, Scotland, that killed 270 people, including two Canadians.

Score another win for the Harper Government.

There has been no comment from Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff who said recently "" Canada is becoming the country that dares not speak its name!"

Oh my gosh, smelling salts to Tommy Clark who has given KADAFI (2stars) for addressing the UN without anyone 'walking out' on him.
No need too Tommy, the assembly fell asleep.

I just heard the Mayor of St John's speaking on Roy Green. I think this whole thing requires a bit of clarity for all concerned.

The Mayor was saying that they only found out about the visit because of hotel room bookings. He was rather miffed that they were not given the heads up by any govt official.

This does require some answers as far as I am concerned too!

It seems a bit to convenient that NFLD is becoming an off shore oil giant. Does that play into the visit?

Speak to us someone!

Jen,

That was SO STUPID of Tom Clark.
Anyone been to "Yuk Yuk's" lately?

Well from what I saw, everyone stayed to get a huge dose of comic relief. He was hysterical as the bizarre freak of NY!

Tail between legs, squealing bark, and even his virgin bodyguard could protect him.

I'm thinking those girls gotta meet the Royal Newfounfland Regiment boy's, they'll cure that tiresome virginity problem right smartly

After the week Canada has had on the world stage and CTV is giving 2 stars to Khadafi?

Oh well, at least the rest of the world can see that Canada's positions have been made quite clear this week.

I was in Columbus, Ohio when Kadafi made that speech to the UN - there was hardly anyone left in the hall when he got through... I watched the whole speech - what Tom was talking about - no one knows, but to give this man number two star is a joke!. Just as long as he has a liberal to give start number one to each week - and he doesn't have to give star two or one to a Conservative - he will keep smiling... He is becoming another Jane Tabor and Oliver show swinging their liberal agenda as far as it will go! - I refuse to watch Tabor and Oliver swing their liberal bias and I have tuned Tom Clarke on for the last time as well... Giving Iggy number one star the week before was just as smelling!

So, if I understand this correctly, Canada is leading on the world stage because Cannon was going to go to Newfoundland and scold Khadafi.

Wow. Impressive.

Ghadafi must think so, he cancelled his trip.

You are right Gayle, speaking out against a dictator is not the way to lead. This is.

Gayle said...

It is not about speaking out against a dictator. Most politicians do that, so not sure why you think that would amount to "leading".

Cannon was planning to scold him. Big whoop.

Have you seen the pictures posted at SDA and other places of Kadafi and Paul Martin shaking hands in Libya.

When were the rooms booked/cancelled.
