"If I am not elected, I imagine that I will ask Harvard to let me back,"

A just visiting Michael Ignatieff said:"“If I am not elected, I imagine that I will ask Harvard to let me back,” Ignatieff said. “I love teaching here, and I hope I’ll be back in some shape or form.”

Quote source

h/t commenter Bruce at Blue Like You.

“I have the best job in the world, and I can’t see any foreseeable circumstance where I want to change. And that’s the hand-on-heart truth,” he told the newspaper.

From the comments a must read : http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=508487

It reads like a blueprint for Ignatieff's political career to this point.

Related: Courtesy of Chucker who blogged that Ignatieff was on a CBC show and claimed that being our PM was not something that he woke up every morning hungry for.

From the same article above: “I love teaching here, and I hope I’ll be back in some shape or form.”

So here we have a man who would rather be teaching at Harvard than be the PM of Canada.

Come on Canada, let's give Ignatieff what he wants and send him back to the job he loves. It is the Canadian way!

The thanks go to Bruce at your place Joanne. I had heard this quote, or something very similar being attributed to Iggy before but I could never nail it down as to the original source.

And as an added bonus that it came from The Harvard Crimson. LOL

What goes around comes around and what you write, say and do, may eventually come back to bite you in the butt or.... eyebrows.

Also from the Harvard Crimson

When Iffy was asked in march 2005 about leaving Harvard ...

... he told the Toronto Star that he had no intention of changing careers.

“I have the best job in the world, and I can’t see any foreseeable circumstance where I want to change. And that’s the hand-on-heart truth,” - Michael Ignatieff, March 2005

From my perspective, the Liberals are the party whose ad campaign is anti-immigrant.

They are basically saying that if you have deep, historic roots as a Canadian, participated in Trudeau's leadership convention and always held a Canadian passport, you are qualified to be a Canadian. Living here, being active in Canadian life for the past 34 years and proudly claiming to be a Canadian is of no consequence.

''And that’s the hand-on-heart truth''

Spoken like the actor he is, eh.

Just like his support for the coalition of losers, 5 months after the ''hand-on-heart truth'' interview, Iffy had a new truth, nothing like the old truth.

Which Iffy are we supposed to trust to run the country?
