If 70% was the minimum he needed to survive, 77% is not a ringing endorsement by any measure.

The PC's and Special Ed have made the Wildrose Alliance very happy tonight.

Robert G. Harvie, Q.C. said...

I was there. The party is behind the Premier. As I blogged - the news of his demise has been greatly exaggerated.. and let the real questions regarding the so-called "plans" of the Wild Rose begin.

Well Rob Harvie its good to hear that 'the party' is behind Special Ed. Too bad the same can't be said of the average Albertan.

I think the real question will come from this Stelmach quote:
Changes are coming, but they will be done in due course on my timeline..."

Time will tell.

Liberal Leader David Swann:"There's no place for centrists in Stelmach's party"

Wow, I think Swann has badly misread this result.

"Swann has badly misread this result."

Oh come on we are talking about the politically tone deaf Swann here. He is the only person I can think of that makes Taft look like a political genius.

Had the Liberals gone with Taylor they might have a run at government but Swann effectively removes that possibility.

Winning 77.4% is fantastic, given the economic circumstances.

Things will start to turn around for Alberta in the first Q 2010.

I trust Stelmach to keep the big bad Green wolf from doing further damage to our economy.

The only thing that can help Eddy is if he stays strong on the environment.

Does strong on the environment includes dumping $2 billion in to the ground to kiss environuts a$$

At the mention of "environment"... one of the reasons so many of the party faithful are defecting to the Wildrose is because of Ed's pandering to the global warming fantasy. If he would pay less attention to the voice of a few misguided pseudo enviro fanatics and more attention to relevant science ( instead of the famous hockey stick graphs) we could save 2 billion right off the top by scrapping the carbon capture program. The PC's should be focused on true environmental concerns, like fresh water sustainability, lead particulate pollution and estrogen contamination - to name a few.

Danielle Smith has gotto be happy about the lukewarm endorsement of bumbling Ed. Just enough voyes to keep him in but not enough to show serious support by his own party.

Ed has damaged the PC brand and frankly he has damaged the Alberta economy.

He wil resign when he finds himself as leader of the opposition. By then it will be too late.

Liberal Leader David Swann:"There's no place for centrists in Stelmach's party"

Someone should be saying "There's no place for conservatives in Stelmach's party". Ed Stelmach, the new Joe Clark.

So the vote simply showed that the party memebers are just as out to lunch on the reality of Alberta as the leader....awesome...he may be a dofus but he's "their" dofus...
