Obama Redo

President Obama retakes the oath of office after his well publicized flub yesterday.

"We believe that the oath of office was administered effectively and that the President was sworn in appropriately yesterday," said White House Counsel Greg Craig.

"But the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of an abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath a second time."

So now that it is official let me say this; good luck President Obama.

The radio "funsters" are at it.

Obama proved he's really Oirish by taking the oath twice "To be sure, to be sure."

Seems he's also very green and into re-cycling by using the same oath twice.

Also, apparently, papers were passed around the crowd telling them not to heckle ... They didn't want anybody to "Barrack" Obama.

Just in case it's a "foreign word over there ...
(barrack (2)- shout at somebody in protest: to shout at somebody in criticism or protest)

Read the entire article you linked to:

"As specified in the US Constitution, the word "faithfully" precedes the phrase "execute the office," but the chief justice, in his first presidential inauguration, read that part of the oath incorrectly."

It wasn't Obama's flub, so please update and note your error.

Caught in a blatant lie and you still can't admit it. Typical.

Red, what are you going on about with this "Caught in a blatant lie and you still can't admit it. Typical."

Caught, can't admit, typical? Wow, don't jump to any conclusions there Red.

If everyone is going to get so damn picky lets look at what happened.

Robert's screwed up the line and so did Obama when he did not repeat back either the correct line or what Robert's had said. Obama was closer to what the oath does actually say but it was still wrong.

None of this was the point of the post as it was to note the news that the new President had re taken the oath, and to wish him luck.

I can see it is going to be a long 4 years if President Obama can do no wrong in the eyes of the believers.

ROBERTS: that I will execute the Office of President TO the United States faithfully

OBAMA: that I will execute [pause giving a chance to Robert's to correct himself]

ROBERTS: the off.., faithfully the Office of President of the United States

OBAMA: the Office of President of the United States faithfully [not what Robert's or the US Constitution says}

Here is the line they BOTH got wrong: "to faithfully execute the office of president of the United States".

And a big hello to the readers of Canadian Cynic.

And he had to ask his lawyer, Greg Craig, what he was signing re the ex order to close gitmo, and on how the detainees would be treated. Lots of uhs and uhms when he tried to read the orders.
Sound bites, in his own voice, at Rush L.
Also broke a promise re lobbyist by appointing two, and the excuse, basically said, rules are made to be broken.
Wonder how many 9/11 families in N.Y will vote democrat is 2010. He made many of them furious today.
