When they start laughing at you, it's all over. Fini.

February 2008: "when they start laughing at you, it's all over. Fini."

June 2009: From the Toronto Star: Pickles or onions? Iggy needs time.

Chantel Hébert (CBC At Issue Panel) on Ignatieff says "If it walks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, it's a duck, and in this case it looks like a dead duck." and "I know that he is not Stephane Dion, but even Stephane Dion with all of his language challenges I don't think could have muffed a message that much".

It seems Ignatieff only polled well when obody knew anything about him and he was completely silent on every issue.

Perhaps when he is in London, England July 8 freelancing his book tour on Isaiah Berlin for 120 pounds per person (black tie, no riff raff) and not having anything at all to do with Canada his poll numbers will go up again.

Funny and true take on Iggy. Best comment, for me, was
Someone tell Iggy their is no I in team.
Lots of comments pre speech as to how many times he would use I, instead of we or liberals.
So, he thinks he and he alone controls the fate of cdns. Guess that is reason enough to not give him any caucus members next election. What do grassroot liberals think of this. Will they donate money, and has he donated any money to the party. He didn't last year.

Iggy is done, he has now become an embarrassment to the LPoC, he has managed to be viewed as even more inept than Dion.

yah gotta watch 'At Issue and Rex'
oh my gawd,
Chantel says 'if it walks like a duck, an quacks like a duck, it's a dead duck',
said it was another Seinfeld episode (that makes 2, with the coronation)
Rex says Iffy is playing Hamlet, to be or not to be, a show that is nothing but veiled indecision...

It must be tough being a narcissist knowing that the more Canadians get to know you the less likely it will be that they will like you.

Also, Iffy provided his own version of 'the retakes' yesterday,
from peacock at 10am to prairie chicken by 10pm.

Questions are:
-how long will PMSH make Iffy squirm, right up to 10:10 Friday night?
-is PMSH and the Government of Canada officially off probation when Iffy gets around to making his decision on 'are Harpers answers good enough?'
-have the media put Iffy on probation?
-why is Iffy constantly compared to birds? puffin, duck, chicken, peacock....

The liberals are trying to say the spending estimates on friday will not stop the stimulus.
They are always voted on in JUNE.
So if they vote no and the money stops, don't say the govt didn't warn us. Read the rules.
And, stop replying to the trolls.

Codere just said people will die this summer of hunger if EI isn't changed NOW.

maryT said...

Now Duceppe just made a gaffe, saying the PM is wrong saying 360 hrs will result in 360 wks of EI, did anyone ever hear the PM say that.

wilson said...

Haha, roudy bunch, aren't they!

Well the very secretive meeting with Iffy is over,
no news conference?

What???
The man who wants to be PM did not rush to the mic....oh oh.

I hope the PMs office has metal detectors,
wouldn't want that kind of language surfacing on a tape,
that someone left in a bathroom!
Anyone reporting chairs flying out windows?

Duceppe just called the Prime MInister a liar outside of the House of Commons.

Not sure that is allowed without proof and there could/should be a liable lawsuit.

If I was having the "great Previcator" into a private meeting I would want him patted down for a tape recorder, its a Liberano custom.
What kinda bird is this guy? Chantal Hebert thinks he is a duck, I tend to agree with the caveat that his first name be changed to "Daffy" Mr Ignatiff fancies himself an Eagle, the Liberals are finally realizing he is a turkey?
The strange thing about his posturing is his scramble to back down from the hill he was strutting around on as of friday, stranger yet is the Liberals think that if they vote the budget down, somehow the money will still be dispersed, maybe they are thinking, money in envelopes, in resturants.
Anyway stick a fork in Mr Ignatiff he is done.

google-estimates to get the rest of the story.
One of the fundamental roles of Parliament is to review and then vote upon the government’s spending plans. On or before 1 March, the government tables its Main Estimates, which represent the government’s spending plans for the coming fiscal year.(2) They provide information on the expected financial resources needed by each department and agency and are primarily prepared by updating the previous year’s spending.(3) These Estimates are referred to House committees, which have until 31 May to consider them.(4) They are subsequently considered and voted upon by the House of Commons before the end of June. (A more detailed description of the Estimates review and approval process can be found in other publications.(5))

The Main Estimates should not be confused with the budget,(6) which presents the country’s economic condition and the government’s overall financial priorities and plans. The budget often contains announcements of new spending initiatives and tax measures. The new spending initiatives are usually not included in the same year’s Main Estimates,
which are prepared in advance of the budget. Instead, new spending initiatives announced in the budget appear in the Supplementary Estimates or in the following year’s Main Estimates
So, if not voted on, can't be implemented regardless of what they say to the media and in the HofC. June has been the date for years.

So, the only part of the stimulus package that will not be affected by an election is the $3B emergency money that got (after Iffy backed down) pushed thru the house???

Is that what you are saying Mary?

maryT said...

Yes, that is what the rules are, according the the info I got from googling
estimates re budget spending.
Lots of good info there. I just cut a couple of paragraphs to get the message out. Those estimates must be voted on by the end of June every year.
That is what the government has been saying, and even Codere questioned it, with, I was minister longer than you and I know how it works. Yes he does, he got adscam money, is that what he was referring to.

Talk about a waste of taxpayers money, electing ndp as all they do is vote against everything without even reading it.
Let's hope repeal of the 1.98/vote is in the platform. Why wast the money for x number of trained seals to sit on their hands. And we know that the Bloc depends on that money to finace their reign of terror on the rest of us.
He called the PM a liar outside of the HofC. Afraid the liberals will take his seats and he will lose funding.

The Pickles and Onions column is hilarious. The readers' comments are pretty good too.
