Senator Edward Kennedy 1932 --2009

U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, has died, his family said. He was 77.

Bet O is furious, there goes the filibuster proof vote re Health Care, and the 51st vote to pass the bill with no Republicans.
And he will be replaced by a special election due to his changing the law re the Govenor appointing a replacement.

As I posted in my own blog today - I think over-stated praise of Sen. Kennedy should be avoided.. however, what can't be denied is that he, and his older brothers, gave everything they had to their country.. as much as we may disagree with their views..

The same remark I left at another BT post.

"He could'nt swim for peanuts.
I am going to open a bottle of champagne tonight"

People seem to have forgotten about the young girl who died in a pond and the story was all hushed up with the Kennedy money.

I left the original post without commentary knowing that the criticisms would show up in the comments. The man was certainly no saint and his many faults should not be hidden away nor should his accomplishments be overstated, but as Rob wrote he did have a noteworthy service to his country and that too cannot be forgotten.

Thanks AA..

I'm not fan of the late Senator, adn recently posted on the hypocricy of him seeking to amend the law to allow the Governor to appoint a replacement, after supporting the implimentation of that same law to prevent Mitt Romney from appointment a replacement for John Kerry.

However - we can disagree and cricize, while still acknowledging the efforts of our "enemies" (term used very loosely).
