Helena Guergis beat me up and stole my lunch.
Traffic has been kind of slow lately so I figured I would try to get picked up by National News Watch. For those of you that don't know, NNW had a link up yesterday to this story and continued to keep the link up even though within a short period of time the story was debunked by many people, including the author of the blog that the Hill Times blog entry was supposedly based on.
One good truth deserves another, so here is my 'truth'.

Wow. That was kind of liberating. As my therapist says; the road to healing starts with being able to speak about traumatic events, and let me tell you the day that Helena beat me up and stole my lunch will live in infamy in the annals of my personal traumatic events.
It also feels good to join the pile on; you should give it a try as well. I hear that it is all the rage at present.
Come on National News Watch, what are you waiting for? Do I need to write a letter to my MP to get some action from the press on this outrage?

Prorogation Day in Canada.
If you were to consider the amount of ink used by the media on tomorrows "Prorogation day in Canada" one might actually believe that it will turn out to be more popular than "Hockey Night in Canada. That of course is wrong, but give credit to the MSM in this country for trying to promote something for them to cover during the traditional slow period in Ottawa that comes with the winter break.
I don't even want to hazard a guess as to what type of numbers we will see tomorrow but regardless of how many do show up, I think it is a pretty safe bet they can be broken down into the following groups:
The largest contingent of the 'protesters' will be your hard core Harper haters made up of mostly lefties who despise the PM and would complain that he is taking away jobs from doctors if he discovered the cure for cancer. This group is always a guarantee to show up at anything anti-conservative.
The next largest group would be the partisans aligned with specific political parties.
Many Greens can be expected to show up and in some cases they have even gone so far as to take part in the organization of this so called "NON PARTISAN" event.
The NDP will be out in force, which is to be expected, but at least Jack Layton has a plan; as unconstitutional as it may be. (Note to Iggy: Your coalition buddy is setting you up with his motion.) This group may be large as unions have money to organize and bus in the "grassroots".
The Liberals: Yes it is expected that many Liberals will be out for partisan gain trying to pull the wool over the eyes of Canadians by looking like they are against prorogation even though LPC policy says otherwise and their leader, Micheal Ignatieff, has stated he is in favour of keeping it.
Ignatieff it turns out was very much in favour of the PM proroguing the first time he did it back in 2008. For the MSM who just read that and have their doubts, please feel free to stick a microphone Ignatieff's way and ask him yourself. It would be hard for him to say that he was not in favour of it in 2008 when he has described the coalition as something so divisive that it would have caused a "permanent division" to Canadian society. You want something to cover MSM; just ask Iggy that question and watch him squirm.
All of the above combined will make up the bulk of the numbers that we see tomorrow; my guess is that they will make up about 90% of those in attendance, but one must also remember that most of these people would never vote conservative in the first place.
Of the remaining numbers, the one group that we should be concerned about is the small number that will attend, who are not there with a particular partisan axe to grind, that are honestly upset over the PM proroguing. This group can be divided into 2 sub groups with the first being the ones that are just sick of seeing politicians not working for any reason, and the other being the ones who have been convinced by the media that this prorogation is not a routine event and that it is an affront to democracy. There is no convincing the first bunch, they think all politicians are lazy, but I do believe that if the others learn the facts about prorogation being a much used, legal, and indeed a constitutional power I think the damage will be minimal. Do they really want to open up the constitution to take away this power? I doubt it very much that many do.
As for the small amount of those in attendance tomorrow who did not make it into the above groupings; their numbers will be made up mostly of media people and a handful of guys there just because they want to score with some dipper chick that was already planing to attend. The first group is potentially dangerous, while the second may very well turn out to be Conservative voters sometime in the future.
There you have it. Some honest analysis of the numbers that I doubt you will see anywhere in the MSM. Not because they are unable to do so, but rather because it is dangerous for the media to analyze the news that they themselves have shaped and intensely promoted for weeks now. The old adage applies: Don't become the story.
Oh and I have to add a quick thought on the detainee red herring we keep hearing about. In the end, the already 3 years old detainee story is going to turn out the same way the other so called "game changers" such as Chuck Cadman, in and out financing, H1N1, wafergate, and a host of others have turned out to be. Nothing more than Liberal games and smear.
For fun: A couple of bonus questions to ask the anti-prorogation types.
Asking any Liberal why they are there if their party and Iggy supports prorogation is an obvious one but if you want some real fun try asking the following.
Last year during the coalition crisis did you claim legitimacy for the coalition because of the constitution? If so, why are you now against that same constitution and the legitimacy of prorogation? Is there anything else you want to change in our constitution while we are opening it up?
And lastly please have a safe Prorogation Day in Canada and enjoy the wall to wall MSM coverage.

He (Ignatieff) encouraged anti-prorogation organizers in a Facebook posting this week, and confirmed he will be attending Saturday's protest in Ottawa, but refuses to back Jack Layton's call for legislation limiting future use of prorogation. When asked to define his political values, he paused then replied: "I'm passionate about freedom." So was George W. Bush.
On the pressing issue of looming deficits, he told reporters it isn't his problem, it's Harper's problem -- and he, Ignatieff, isn't about to help his rival out of the swamp. (Never mind what happens to the rest of us, I guess.)
He continues to answer questions with questions, urge patience and promise a bold new vision any time now. He sounds like Karlheinz Schreiber: wait until next week, then the true story will emerge.

Ujjal Dosanjh rejects our reality and substitutes his own.
The Liberal Party is all about lies and games. Take Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh's recent appearance on CTV's Power Play with Tom Clark on Nov, 10 2009 as an example. (Video @ bottom of post)
Here is what he had to say on the subject of 10%'ers: "The difference is most of the conservative 10 percenters for instance that come into my riding, at least 1 every month, have been personally attacking Michael Ignatieff for having stayed outside the country. I mean that is disgusting. That is not an appropriate use of the10 percenters. If the want to argue policy, if they want to argue ideas, if they want to attack what we stand for, ah..that is different. If you are spending money for purely partisan personal attacks, that is not acceptable and that is the problem with the Conservative 10 percenters."
Is he lying to your face or just the most unaware MP in Ottawa?
Sorry to be so blunt but how can Dosanjh actually sit there and say with a straight face that the Liberals do not send out partisan 10%'ers? That is beyond the realm of belief considering that Caroline Bennett was just forced to apologize for this particular 10 %'er using aboriginal children as pawns for political games while using the fake body bag scandal as cover.
And who can forget the outrageous 10%'er Hedy Fry sent out slagging our military and implying that Canadians abroad feel shame for wearing OUR flag because Canada has a conservative government!
I should note that to my knowledge Hedy Fry has not yet apologized for this outrage.
These 2 examples are common knowledge, there are more including ones that attack Stephen Harper, and there is NO possible way that that Dosanjh did not know about these or the other partisan material coming from the brain trust of the Liberal Party. So what the hell was Dosanjh, a guy who won his seat by just 20 votes, doing other than playing political games for political gain? I await an answer, but I know that like an apology from Hedy Fry, I should not expect one anytime soon.
If the above was not enough proof of the games that the Liberals are trying to play, consider what Dosanjh had to say about prisoners in Afghanistan getting the H1N1 vaccine claiming that the government prioritized the prisoners ahead of Canadians at home.
"The question I have is. How come those men, ah you know robust men who are engaged against our soldiers and fighting our soldiers, how come they become the priority and ah men and women in this country, majority of them at this point, are not a priority and that is the mess this governement created."
Pathetic. Nobody believes that the conservatives would purposely put Taliban prisoners ahead of Canadians, but yet we have Dosanjh trying to spin it as if they did.
I just hope that when the next election does come that at least 20 people in Vancouver South come to their senses and change their vote too get rid of this guy and his smears.

A Tale of 2 McGuinty's
Premier of Ontario Dalton McGuinty on the very real ehealth scandal: "We will not be moving ahead with a public inquiry.”
Liberal MP David McGuinty:"We believe this is probably the most massive propaganda effort of any kind ever seen at the federal level in Canadian history." as the Liberals file 55 complaints with the ethics commissioner, and ask Elections Canada, the Public Service Commission and the auditor general also to investigate the long standing practice of using (FAKE) giant novelty cheques which McGuinty believes Canadians are too stupid to know are not real.
Quite the contrast between brothers no?
A couple of more interesting quotes from David McGuinty:
On Adscam: “There was an examination and the Liberals paid money back. That’s over and there are new standards.” ( Perhaps if the Liberals had used giant novelty cheques I might not have missed this payback of money that the LPC has to this day refused to tell Canadians which Quebec Liberals received the stolen cash.)
The Liberal star is clueless on 10-percenters: "I stand to be corrected, the NDP may have done that in the past,'' he said. '' I don't recall ever seeing a Liberal logo on a 10-percenter. That is a flagrant abuse of taxpayers' money. If you're using public resources to further the cause of your own party in held or unheld ridings, it's against the rules. And if it's not against the rules, it's against common sense." Yes it is true; David McGuinty wants us to believe that he has NEVER seen a LPC logo on any 10-percenter in all of his years as a Liberal MP, including the ones that HE has sent out , and he has the nerve to suggest that it is the conservatives who are treating the voters as idiots.

BC Teachers, Wildrose, Ogopogologogate
I was out with the flu for a couple of days and need to catch up on a few thoughts.
So the BC Teachers union invites their members to the following event. "Teaching 2010 Resistance," aimed at developing ways to teach children about the dark side of the Olympic Games, to be held Oct. 28 at Lord Strathcona Elementary, is being organized by the Olympic Resistance Network and Teach2010.org, which calls itself "a collaborative website for teachers to post and find resources for teaching the 2010 Winter Olympics from a critical perspective."
If the BCTF's claims that this is not political agenda, but rather just an exercise in critical thinking are to be believed, then when can we expect to see the BCTF invite their members to teaching seminars on such topics as objections to gay marriage, or why global warming may just be the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on man kind take place? This reeks.
It is not all bad for Ed Stelmach; now when he is nervously looking over his shoulder he gets to see Danielle Smith right behind him rather than David Swann. Hey Swanny, all it would take would be a couple and BOOM, you are out of that cozy OLO office. Be careful.

Today's Liberal Press Conference in Montreal.
Sources close to the Liberal Party have revealed to me that they are planning a press conference later today condemning the fabled NHL team, the Montreal Canadians, for this logo.
According to my source (Thanks Hedy) not only does the "C" look remarkably like the "C' on the current line up of Olympic apparel , the "H" in the middle obviously stands for "Harper".
Here is how it will go down:
There is expected to be plenty of outrage.
The media will cover it all, including the event getting live coverage on the 24hr networks.
Not one member of the media will state the obvious and call the Liberals out on how they are not only treating the media like morons with this ridiculous spin but also treating the general public the same way, and if we are really lucky Tom Clarke may make a snide little remark about lawsuits while saying nothing to the obvious spin feeding this joke of a story coming from the pundits sitting right in front of him.
Charlie Angus will again make an ass of himself.
Gayle and Ted will spin this as a show of party unity and a positive for Ignatieff.
The Liberals will lose more votes from people sick and tired of being treated as fools by a political party constantly playing these types of games, while telling you with a straight face they are not.
Bloggers will within a matter of hours of the presser, have exposed both of the Liberal deceit and the press that give the Liberals a free platform for their spin without challenge, for the dupes they are.
The Liberal Party will act as if nothing happened as no apology will be forthcoming from the Liberals or their strategists for smearing the Montreal Canadians, the HBC and all of the designers and employees involved, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and our athletes, (That is a lot of people but when the Liberals smear they do so with wide brush.) and no apology will be forthcoming from the Liberals to the people of Canada for playing politics with the Olympics and again treating us as all as fools.
The media will wonder why they are losing customers and revenue.

Evil Conservatives give more stimulus money per capita to Newfoundland than any other province. Gerard Kennedy spends weeks researching and is convinced that the Conservatives won a seat there during the last election; calls Elections Canada for an explanation.
The Liberals will never be satisfied with how or where the money is spent. If the government put all of the money in Liberal ridings all we would hear is how the Conservatives are just trying to buy votes. If it is spent to fast, they are reckless, too slow and they are dragging their feet, etc etc. The only way that these guys would ever be happy would be if it was them passing out the cash and that is only because some of it would be coming back to them in brown paper bags.

The OLO Responds to Wafergate.
From Kady O'Malley at ITQ comes the official response from the OLO to her query about Liberal involvement in the Wafergate story.
“This is nonsense. We didn’t record the videotape – CPAC did. And as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Canadians need only look at the video on You Tube to see what happened.”
Bob Fife thinks otherwise:
Wow. It looks like the Liberals are still maintaining that this fraudulent story which has cost the job of Telegraph-Journal editor Shawna Richer is the truth, even though the paper retracted the story after finding they had NO facts to support it, and the priest who administered communion states that the PM ate the wafer. (Does that mean the Lib's are calling the priest a liar?)
Update: The Telegraph-Journal makes another apology.

Does that mean she is a liar?
Did Michael Ignatieff call a 26 yr old hill staffer who worked for Natural Resources Minister Lisa Raitt a liar? Here is a bit of what he said on the subject.
Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff called the minister's allowance of a staffer to take the blame "despicable". "It's presumably the same staffer responsible for the isotope shortage and it's presumably this 26-year-old who is responsible for the whole darned department" "How are we supposed to believe such a fiction?"
The staffer in question has taken responsibility and resigned over the incident.
I am just a knuckle-dragger so tell me dear Liberal friends if I have got this wrong. If Michael Ignatieff thinks that this is all a "fiction", does that not mean that he thinks the staffer is lying? Because that is what I am getting out of it.

Stephane Dion is an admitted separatist. What, too far back for a quality smear? Is there a limit on this stuff?
I would have thought there was but judging by the latest Liberal Party of Canada attack website, scandalpedia, the length of time one goes back for a smear seems to have no limits. I know this is not as important topic as say cartoon puffin poop is, but this is getting ridiculous.
Right on the home page the reader is greeted by a 2001 quote from then private citizen Stephen Harper, and looking a little deeper the Liberals appear to have no qualms about digging up quotes made in the previous century, long before Stephen Harper formed a government or the CPC was born, including a couple from 1994.
In the scandals section they go back to the early 90's and their old favorite target Brian Mulroney, and I am surprised that they don't have a section on David Emerson. (maybe it is because he is not running this time so why waste a good smear on him) There is also one other interesting "scandal" that I noticed on this official LPC website, but the details were a little sketchy do to legal issues. Something about libel and slander I think.
A while back a few Liberal bloggers declared that enough time had passed since adscam ended in 2004 that the issue should be declared dead and buried never to be brought up again, but today,
September 9th, 2008, the Liberal Party of Canada decided that 2004 events be open season for at least until the year 2018.
Madness. I know Liberals like to think when Stephane Dion changes his mind, like on carbon taxes, the Conservative child tax benefit, his own Green Shift, and yes Quebec separatism, that it is a good thing , and when Stephen Harper changes his that it is a sign the he is the spawn of Satan, but can we all please stop living decades into the past.

Ladies and Gentlemen; the 'Party of the Charter' in action.
Currently the Liberal Party of Canada is in court trying to take away the rights of a Canadian citizen to due process before that court.
The Liberal party filed the opinion by a political scientist as part of its defence in the defamation suit Mr. Harper launched against the party over the Chuck Cadman affair. "This claim by Prime Minister Harper is an attempt by the governing party to silence the Official Loyal Opposition on a matter of significant public interest pertaining to the government of Canada," the Liberal party says in the statement of defence filed with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
The opinion by University of Toronto professor Peter Russell states that the suit intends to "choke off parliamentary and public discussion of the issue." which the Liberal maintain is designed to muzzle legitimate criticism about his role in the Cadman affair.
The reality is that this lawsuit limits nothing. The Liberals can continue to say what ever they want as long as what they say is the truth, but if it is not the truth they have to face the legal consequences just like anyone else would.
If you slander or libel me, I can sue your ass off; that is my remedy available under Canadian law and just because the Prime Minister is the Prime Minister is no reason for Stephen Harper, the Canadian citizen, not to have the same legal and constitutional right as anyone else.

The most public scandal in the history of Canada.
If the CPC were really trying to hide their dealings in the so called "In and Out" scandal, they have not been doing a very good job of it. So in an effort to help out, I humbly offer up some suggestions as to what is normally done when you are secretly conspiring to break the law.
Keep it small. Involving numerous candidates, official agents, countless local campaign workers, party staff, and an outside advertising agency with all of it's employees, does not a secret make.
Don't file factual forms and paper work. A good scandal requires you to make stuff up. Actually putting the correct information about money spent on the Election Canada paperwork is just bad scandal form.
Don't challenge those that make the rulings. Poking a bear with a stick will only cause problems, and not recommended when conducting shady dealings.
Do not go public by bringing your actions before courts. Anyone involved in a scandal knows that secrecy is the key. Using the courts, or the media kind of blows the clandestine nature of your average conspiracy out of the water.
Don't take lessons from the opposition parties. Yes the Liberal Party of Canada did manage to get away with Adscam as far as Elections Canada is concerned and they WILL NEVER have to reveal just which Liberal candidates got that money, but..... Oops, just hang on a minute. Maybe taking lessons from the Liberals is a good idea when you are planning a conspiracy after all.
Lets get this thing before a judge soon.

FITNA should receive tax credits from the Canadian government
Or at least it should have if FITNA were made in Canada; according to NDP shill Oscar-nominee Sarah Polley and everyone else on the left crying censorship over bill C-10.
The left and various Harper haters are in an uproar because the government wants to pass Bill C-10 which contains a provision, originally created by the Liberals by the way, which would allow the government to refuse tax credits to film or television productions deemed offensive. Imagine that, a government in its role as the steward of our tax dollars, trying to make sure those dollars are not spent on hard core porn or other such projects that the majority of Canadians would not want that money spent on.
The crux of the argument against c-10 is that someone (meaning a government bureaucrat) would be deciding which projects qualify for the tax credits and which do not. Even though the minister responsible has stated that she will work with the entertainment industry to draw up a precise definition of what projects would be deemed too offensive to receive government tax credits, the lefties are against the idea and are crying censorship. Funny how in the case of films or television productions that many on the the left think that tax money must flow to all projects regardless of their nature, but with other issues such as child care or tax cuts, they are more than happy to decide for everyone just who should qualify, and more importantly, who should not.
Because this deals with the so called arts, does not mean that it should be exempt from any rules. If we are going to be putting tax dollars towards this industry, there must be some kind of rules as to how and where those dollars get spent. It is more than just common sense, it is what I and most Canadians would expect the government to do whenever anyone comes with their hands out looking for our tax dollars.
All this faux outrage makes me wonder just how many of those against C-10 would have an issue with homegrown remake of Triumph of the Will . Or is even Nazi propaganda entitled to our tax dollars without any rules or government oversight? What say you?

The PM's secret and other such oddities from yesterday.

I see that there is breaking news that the PM Harper may be influencing the Democratic nomination. Unfreaking believable! I mean if it was to sabotage Obama, the only possible conclusion would be that PM Harper is keeping a dirty little secret. He is a Hillary supporter.
Come clean Mr.Harper, and reveal your secret agenda. Are you indeed a Hillary supporter, and when did you know it? Also why, after so clearly leaning towards Edwards early on, have you decided to switch teams now? The Canadian public supports honesty, time to be honest with the Canadian public sir.

..this government has failed to introduce policies which will diminish the inequality between men and women, in particular by its refusal to provide adequate resources and policies governing child care; legal assistance; long-term care; home care; health care; support for women's equality seeking groups; support for seniors; support for Aboriginal and minority women; pay equity; reform of employment insurance; support for preventing violence against women; public housing and transportation and other services so vital to the hard working women of this country.
It is nice to know that I can always count on Jack Layton to bring me back to reality from such a day of strange happenings. I can always count on the fact that Jack Layton is and will always be a socialist.

Liberal Strategy 101: When you got nothing else, or you need to take the eyes of the nation away from internal Liberal woes, cry scandal.
