Liberals Thinkers Conference: A late call for help.

In another example of flip flopping the brilliant leadership of Michael Ignatieff a call came out today for Liberal MPs to drop everything and come to Montreal to attend the 'thinkers conference'. The same conference which they were told a few day ago that they were not welcome to attend.

So heavy was the ‘former' representation of Liberals that a last-minute e-mail went out from party headquarters inviting current Liberal MPs, who had been discouraged from attending, to change their plans and rush to the conference. Too many empty chairs perhaps?

Oh this one is too good to pass up:

*Michael Ignatieff: There is a break here, between the political class and the citizens of the country. It's the fault of the political class," said Mr. Ignatieff. "In truth, politicians don't know how to keep young people interested in politics anymore.

  1. I agree the circus in Ottawa is unable to motivate or excite the voters.

Every party is responsible to sinking to silly games and partisanship politics.

Oppostion days were used up for what purpose?

Since 2006 what have the opposition done to use their limited days to introduce and provide alternate policies?

The voters have also judged the parties in opposition and have punished those accordingly.

We both want a responsible opposition to keep the government accountable.

  2. They pushed the PM to spend more on stimulus.

Of course now they are not claiming any part in it ( even when they actually do something they don't take responsibility) and are screaming about the deficit, but they played a big part in pushing us into deficit.

  3. I was watching coverage on the CBC, and those rooms were really empty. I never saw more than 20 people in one shot.

I wonder how many MPs decided to come after the emergency invitations? Considering 70% of the Liberal reside in Montreal on Toronto, it can't be hard to wrangle the team.

  5. Oh, and cocktails are being served VERY early in the afternoon. What we need are cameras and microphones, lots and lots of cameras and microphones...

  6. I've been away from my computer, so I didn't see this post. Thanks for the plug! Gotta love all the grey hairs who are so stuck in the last century that they're still using old quips and quotes when speaking to the media... 21st century... hee hee!

  7. Paul Martin is making the year 2000 a top priority.....in 2010. They should have called it the big reminisce conference because most of the conversation will be about the good old days.

Iceman, it should be a quote fest with or without cocktails. They just can't help it.

  8. All we need is someone lurking in the hallways with a camera to catch a few drunk liberals in action.
I did see McCallum sitting in the 3rd row.
Is there anyone there from Alberta.
Maybe Ann should make a surprise appearance to liven things up.

  10. I would gladly pay her $695 'fee' to see if they would even let her show up, never mind speak.

  11. It has been mentioned on lib blogs and in the media that iggy must give the speech of a lifetime when this circus wraps up. Who will hear this speech, is it being televised live, or will we just have to take Kady's word for what he says.

  12. It will be aired by our balanced media with careful detail to ensure his speech is reviewed afterward with unbiased scrutiny.

    resistance is futile...

    welcome to the collective groupthink
